The Infant's Toy Book (New Haven: S. Babcock, 1833)

This little chapbook contains several short stories about children either behaving and being rewarded or misbehaving and being punished. Jane, a good girl, is rewarded for cheerfully sharing her doll with her little sister with a new, larger doll. Susan, on the other hand, has her feet tied together as punishment for kicking her nurse. The back cover announces that S. Babcock has just published “a great variety of beautiful toy books, of every size and description and of various prices […] all selected with a studious regard for their moral, useful, and instructive character.”
