Wigwam Stories is a children’s book retelling traditions, myths, and customs of various Native American tribes. While the text received mixed reviews, critics frequently praised De Cora’s artistic contributions, which included the binding, three full-page illustrations, and several dozen decorative initials and headpieces. The Chicago Tribune called De Cora “a gifted young Indian artist,” whose work gave the book’s imagery “an unusually true reproduction of the atmosphere of Indian life.”
